Larry Theiss, a Milwaukee-area musician, has been part of the local music scene since the 1970's. He has recently released a Christmas guitar CD entitled "Christmastime in the City." Larry’s sophisticated arrangements of Christmas music took extra time and dedication to achieve the results he desired. Larry took up the guitar in high school and continued on to earn a bachelor’s degree in classical guitar at Carroll College and the Milwaukee Conservatory of Music. Other styles of music also caught his interest over the years, including folk, rock, and Irish music. Besides performing, Larry has also been teaching music and directing church choirs since 1976. He has written and recorded religious music, including choir octavos and solo vocal selections. His religious CDs include "Lord, We Are the People," and "Praise and All Thanksgiving" (currently being redone and available in about 9 months). He then applied a renewed interest in classical guitar to Christmas music in 1998 with the release of the CD "Christmas Presence," an all-instrumental recording. That was followed by "Christmas in the Country" in 2001. And then the latest to arrive on the scene was "Christmastime in the City." After selling over 12,000 Christmas CDs during these past 10 years, Larry is now working on expanding his market. With increased exposure on radio stations plus radio and newspaper advertising he hopes his Christmas guitar CDs will reach many new listeners. It should be a very interesting and productive Christmas season.
